Can you replace just the screen mesh without replacing the whole frame?
Our dog went through two window screens on the back of the house. The mesh is shredded but the aluminum frames look fine. Do I have to buy whole new screens or can somebody just put new mesh in the existing frames?

Good news: if the frames are straight and the corners and hardware are still solid, you almost never need whole new screens. That's called rescreening — we remove the shredded mesh and the rubber spline that holds it, clean out the channel, install new mesh, tension it properly, and trim the edges. The screen goes back in the window looking new for a lot less than a replacement. Since a dog caused this one, ask about pet-resistant mesh for those two windows — it's a heavier weave built to survive paws. If a frame turns out to be bent or corroded we'll tell you straight that it needs replacing instead.
